Service Description

The inclusive arts training outlines the benefits of incorporating art into a clinical setting, as well as explores scope of practice in therapeutic art making for counselors without a training in art therapy. The program details how to facilitate art making in a clinical setting, focusing on materials, space, storage, confidentiality, autonomy, art directives and when to use them, and processing the artwork. Participants will have hands on opportunities to explore different art materials as well as practice processing their own artwork with the group. In the ethics section, participants will be given a range of hypothetical situations involving art making in a clinical setting to discuss in groups. Participants will: -Learn the benefits of utilizing art in a clinical counseling setting.
-Identify the differences between clinical art therapy and therapeutic art making.
-Explore a wide range of art materials and adaptive techniques. Learn about the strengths, limitations, and appropriateness of each.
-Be able to use the skills learned today to provide a rich, engaging, and beneficial clinical art experience for all people. Presenters: Kathryn Kelly, ATR-BC, LPC, CLAT Jennifer Narcisco, LPC
